Reaching the age of 80 has been lots of fun, smiles, gifts, and a great deal of accomplishments. I heard recently "your life is great if your children are doing well" - true. I am grateful for them.

Minding my own business, on my way home on a two-lane road, I felt a tickle on my neck! A while later, the centipede-like feeling is crawling in the front of my blouse and there is no way I can stop the car and investigate.

As I look for a side road or a wider place to stop and look inside my blouse, the little crawling continues and is now coming around the front of my blouse.

What to do? Just yesterday as I was helping one of our daughters from the garage into her car, when she pointed out to a very long spider web coming down from the rafters. I had not paid attention to this particular web because is expected in the garage; no matter how many times I take the broom and sweep the ceiling and the corner of the room, there are always spider webs hanging around.

There it was, dangling from the web, the biggest spider I had ever seen! The body was so huge, it was larger than a dime and puffy with a head almost as large as the body. It was HUGE!

I found a stick, wrap the web on it and flung it across the garage out the door. Of course, the spider was having nothing to do with me or our daughter. It hastily flung itself from the stick and starting crawling around the floor, back to the garage. Naturally, I started to follow it outside and, in my haste, rolled the trash bin to get a better look, while one of the trashcan’s wheels ran over the spider and squashed it. No more spider.

It was not a fair fight.

Back to the creepy crawling inside my blouse, the nearest wide spot on the road was about 4 miles west, so, I pretended I could not feel the crawling anymore, to no avail. The crawling continued slowly and it started to go down the front.

Seriously, I could not find anywhere to stop the car and figure out what’s causing the crawling sensation: could it be a bug, a tick, a spider or am I just nervous. No, it’s real. And is not going away soon.

Finally, I found the corner where I can stop the car, crawl out, see inside the blouse and find the reason for the tickle. Surprise! a black hornet was trapped inside my clothing. I must have picked it up on my hair as I was walking under a tree. It was as stunned as I was and happy to be released into the free world again.

Of course, I was relieved it didn’t sting m; however, as I recall the incident, I still feel the crawling on my arms and legs and back. I can’t help it; there it is again.
